My Organized Office Nook
Hi Friends! If you've ever been in my home you know there's one disaster zone that it is in plain sight. Of all the strides I have made in redecorating my home (here, here, and here) and making it bright and sunny, it was the one area I just could not figure out. The boxes I had bought just made it look too plain, and I had so much stuff that things would just pile up.
Sad iPhone photo. This was the nook on a good day.
I hemmed and hawed at figuring out what to do. Friends suggested I just put a curtain over it but I didn't want to hide the nook. It's a great asset to my home and would ruin the balance I had in my fireplace and entryway.
One day someone posted a photo of mint storage boxes from IKEA (they say "green" online). I already owned these boxes in many other colors (black, white, green, and orange) but for some reason I thought that these boxes were going to be the ones to save my nook. And that they did.
Doesn't this look magical? At first I didn't like that it just looked like box city but the look quickly grew on me. I love how organized it looks. I think it also helped to have more boxes so I had more space to put all of my craft items. I'm also glad I mixed in my existing white boxes so that it didn't too coordinated.
As for the bottom shelf which acts as a desk, I don't really have many options to store my cable, DVD, and internet boxes. They're definitely an eye sore, and I can't hide them or I won't be able to point the remotes at them. So I decided to just pretty up the area as if it is a shelf.
This print I got from Alt for Everyone was perfect for my nook. I got the dog quote from my Secret Santa this year.
I'm pretty proud of this makeover. Let's hope it stays this way! Now I don't have to shudder whenever I look into that corner.
