Get Crafty! Ribbon String Lights
Hi Friends! I'm on a crafting roll, aren't I? There's just something about the holidays that makes me want to craft up a storm - food, parties, gifts, etc.
Last year I made a ribbon garland with string lights for my fireplace and my friends have commented on how much they love it. My garland now hangs year round on my full-length mirror, so whenever I take Outfit of the Day pics (I tag them as #ootd on Instagram).
Do you like my snazzy lounge outfit and the Nico photobomb?
This adds such a fun flair to your fireplace, tree, or anywhere else you want to decorate because it takes away the rash look of string lights. I mean come on, they're pretty ugly unless the string actually blends into what you're attaching it to.
All you need are the following items:
- String lights (duh)
- Ribbon in your choice of colors
I chose colors that were festive but didn't have to be just Christmas-themed. Cut out about 6" strips of ribbon from each spool. How dense you want the ribbon to be (aka packed in or loosely arranged) is up to you. Simply tie the ribbon down the entire length of your string lights.
You could also do this with fabric scraps. Just remember whether you use ribbon or fabric, you may have to cut your strips a little longer based on how thick each piece is.
