As you saw in my last post, I finally had time and energy to put into my website redesign! I created a brand board to visualize what I wanted in my new design and it really helped put it all together.
I now present you, my website makeover! You’ll have to actually visit the site to see it in all its glory, but here’s a screenshot in case you can’t access it at work or you’re on your phone:
I really can’t stop cheesin’ at how much I love my new logo. It’s so me. It epitomizes my love of hand-lettering and it’s so personal because, well, I wrote it myself! Not to mention it’s quite pretty. ::toots my own horn::
And even though I didn’t extend the makeover to my Hey Love: Life side of my site, I did update the header as well.
I also originally was debating between a watercolor or ikat accent but when I found this background from Pretty Splendid on Etsy, I fell in love. I think this confetti pattern adds a touch of fun and is a hat tip to my love of DIYing parties.
I love that my sidebar seems so much more organized. I was able to split columns so that my sidebar was not super long, and I like the feature to add three columns at the bottom of the page to offload more widgets.
I like that I can feature some of my top posts at the top of the page, and there’s an option for a slider. I just haven’t gotten around to tweaking images for that.
If you’re interested in more detail on what I’m using for my blog, check out my branding board post on sources.
What do you think? Have you ever gone through a big site redesign? And sorry, I don’t create websites for other people. A lot of my redesign was just trial and error. I am not an expert at web design.
